Theo Von is a highly-acclaimed host of the hilarious comedy podcast, This Past Weekend. The show was launched in 2016 and had been running for seven years. The show has aired over 500 episodes and brought in countless big names in comedy, such as Nate Bagartze, Louis C.K., Mike Vecchione, and Stavros Halkias. Aside from comedians, he has also brought in other podcast hosts like Joe Rogan, Bobby Lee, Caleb Pressley, and more. Von is often praised for his quick wit and knack for storytelling. Fans have also cited Von as insightful and extremely funny. Hence, with a fantastic podcast show, you can only do the next logical thing, become a stand-up comedian! Right?
Luckily, Theo Von is a natural host and a phenomenal stand-up comedian. And he was a stand-up comedian first and a podcaster second. His roots in stand-up comedy began in 2006 when he debuted in the reality competition series Last Comic Standing. Although Von didn’t win season 4 of the show, he became a fan favorite and won the online competition. After his time with the series, he joined another comedy competition, Reality Bites Back, two years later. This time he won the show and bested several comedians, Tiffany Haddish, Bert Kresicher, and Amy Schumer.
In 2012, Von was featured in an episode of Comedy Central’s The Half Hour. He also appeared in renowned shows like Chelsea Lately, Hello Ross, Thi is Not Happening, and Watch What Happens Live.
Four years after his Comedy Central debut, Theo Von scored his first Netflix deal and released the hour-long comedy special, No Offense. This debut was well-received by fans and critics, so doing another Netflix Comedy Special makes sense. In 2021, he released his second Netflix special, Regular People.
Besides stand-up comedy and hosting podcasts, Von has also dabbled in acting and reality TV shows. He has appeared on Road Rules: Maximum Velocity, Real World/ Road Rules Challenge, Battle of the Network Reality Stars, Why? with Hannibal Buress, and many more.
