One of these artists who has been making waves in the country music scene is Russell Dickerson. With hit songs like "She Likes It," "Yours," and "Blue Tacoma," among many others, Dickerson earned his spot among the most promising in the genre.
Dickerson is well-known for deftly fusing his authentic country twang with contemporary R&B and pop. One of the RISE artists on Spotify, who had four consecutive singles that launched their careers and became the first country music artist to top the Billboard Airplay list since Luke Combs. Born and raised in Nashville, Dickerson attended Belmont University for his bachelor's degree; he is most renowned for his work with Thomas Rhett and Sam Hunt. He finally broke through to other famous musicians after signing with Creative Artists Agency.
After finishing college, Dickerson clenched his jaw and hit the road with his guitar, determined to become a professional country performer. Although his 2011 single "That's My Girl" failed to chart upon signing with his first music agency, he eventually found success with his 2013 single "Green Light," which topped the internet radio charts. Over the years, Dickerson's music evolved into a style that will undoubtedly boost his career. His legendary 2015 single "Yours" became a top wedding song in the country. With 2,700 copies sold in its first week of release, the EP peaked at number fourteen on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. It debuted at number eight overall and number two in the iTunes Country Store. It was succeeded that year by "Blue Tomoca," the sophomore album, which also peaked at #1 on the Country Airplay charts; that same year, "Every Little Thing" topped the Canadian Hot 100 and sold 68,000 copies in the US. To the most recent note, "She Likes It" feat. Jake Scott has amassed 170 million streams and has been certified gold. Recently, Dickerson made an appearance on Call Me Kat's season finale and sang his touching song "God Gave Me A Girl" on Today.
This 2024, as part of his "Big Wheels & Backroads Tour," the 36-year-old budding country artist will stop at the Arizona Financial Theatre on March 22.
