"Goth Babe is Griff Washburn enjoying himself," says the musician’s Spotify bio. Washburn is a pop sensation with an environmental edge. He’s injecting a totally fresh vibe into life, using his passion for Mother Earth as the driving force behind his uplifting tunes. From standout psychedelic pop gems like "Early Mornings," "Topanga," and "Sometimes" to the festival-ready tune "Weekend Friend," Goth Babe has crafted a sound that blends the dreamy aura of Gold Panda with the refined brilliance of Miike Snow.
Inspired by beachy psych-surf icons like Surf Curse and Ty Segall, Washburn kicked off his musical journey with his skateboarding crew, dropping the Fuzz Ghost EP on the now-defunct Richmond tape label Ongakubaka Records.
After saying goodbye to the college scene in Nashville, Washburn fully embraced a nomadic lifestyle. He explored cities like New York and Los Angeles before committing to a life on the road. Washburn built a tiny house in the Portland countryside for himself and his furry sidekick, Sadie. However, they faced a setback when it tragically burned down. But that didn't stop him!! He then dove deeper into his nomadic lifestyle, mastering sailing and embarking on a 1,200-mile Pacific journey to Mexico with Sadie by his side. Naming his sailboat Lola, the album became a collection of tracks born from this epic voyage.
